'A Summons to Amber'

Midsummer’s Eve approaches, and from Amber, the heralds fly to the depths of shadow, risking the ferocity of the storms to call those of the blood back to the one true kingdom. In Amber, it is a time of merriment and excitement as both those of noble and common blood look forward to the arrival of the descendants of Oberon. The castle and the true city have come alive in preparation for the celebration of the Feast of the Unicorn, and with each new arrival, shouts can be heard along the King’s Path as the subjects of King Savian Van’Eric pay homage to the return of the royal lines of Amber blood.

However, even in the midst of such merriment, the darkness of the last age is not forgotten. With each new arrival, thoughts turn to those lost to Shadow and to the falling, giving the celebration a somber and, at times, bitter edge. As the attending court of King Savian grows, those who have weathered the past can not help but reflect upon how few of the King’s cousins remain, and how many of the lines of Oberon have been lost altogether.

Still, the line has weathered the falling. Though the storms of shadow loom beyond the veil, in its defiance, the majesty of Amber cannot be denied. Though the darkness of the past persists, in the King, there is hope for a new age, and, as the feast day approaches, many hope to be blessed with a sighting of the Unicorn, confirming that the dark times are near to an end.
